Epekwitnewaq Mi鈥檏maq and Parks Canada Engagement Sessions
August 2022

Negotiations are underway for a proposed agreement that would see the Mi鈥檏maq people and Parks Canada work, as partners, to co-manage natural heritage places administered by Parks Canada on PEI. This agreement advances reconciliation in a real and concrete way by acknowledging the contributions of the Mi鈥檏maq, our history and culture, as well as the special long-standing relationship we have with traditional lands and waters. This partnership will lead to more opportunities for the Epekwitnewaq Mi鈥檏maq including employment and training as well as shared tourism opportunities and resource management.

Join us at our summer engagement sessions to learn how the proposed agreement will work and what it will mean for the Epekwitnewaq Mi鈥檏maq.
